Gini Dietrich, My Idol

Gini Dietrich, My Idol

Gini Dietrich is a good friend, a smart gal and someone I’d hire in a minute if I needed a whole bunch of marketing know how. And, of course, if I didn’t do that shiz myself.

Her niece was hanging out in Chicago and spending time with her hip and trendy Aunt Gini recently and had a blast. In fact, she had so much fun that she created a special drawing for Gini as a keepsake. Which, of course I found because I stalk Gini on Facebook, too. Heck, I stalk that girl everywhere. Enough about me.

The drawing rocks! I love kid art – especially this kid art. It gives you a glimpse into how this little girl sees life, Chicago, the fun things she did on her visit and most importantly, her “Ant Geny.” I liked it so much I decided to make it into a new avatar for my friend. Then I decided, what the heck, why not go the whole hog and just write a doggone blog post about it. w00t w00t. I do so love it when inspiration strikes.

Feast your eyes on this, the original, uncut version, won’t you?

Then, cast your gaze up yonder, at my artful cropping job, showcasing Ms. Dietrich and her lovely mouth (open, as usual) (oopsie, did I say that out loud?)

Hmmmmm. I wonder what that open mouth is supposed to mean? Is it:

“I can’t WAIT to get on my bike and ride, ride, ride. And then Facebook, Facebook, Facebook about it!”

or is it:

“I love this social media stuff so much I can barely STAND it. Let me tell you why it makes sense for you and YOUR business.”

Or, is it:

“I’m gonna feed Pete the Tapeworm NOW and you can’t stop me. Oh no, you can’t. Just try it. If you do, I’m gonna run you over with that bike of mine!”

No matter, the rendition of Ant Geny is adorable and, being the good friend that I am, I couldn’t resist poking a little fun at Gini Gin Gin. As I like to call her.

Oh, and do yourself a favor, read her damn blog, willya? She knows her stuff and you’ll be glad you did. And you’ll soon see why I like her. And why I can’t resist exploiting every opportunity that comes my way to tease her. Oh, and follow her sassy self on Twitter. She knows her schizzzzz. For reals.

  • Super cool post on the super cool “Sneaky Gini”! Well done! =D

  • ShellyKramer

    Thanks Shawn :)))

  • ginidietrich

Well, what's even more funny is she hasn't been to visit…ever. So all of this Chicago stuff (the castle??) is made up in her little mind or what she's seen on TV. And the back says, “Will you be my Valintine?”…sent in August. Freaking hilarious!

And speaking of hilarious, let's talk about YOU! You are too, too funny! My mom also calls me Gini Gin Gin so you're getting away with murder because you are so flipping funny! Thanks for the fun post! I'm going to send it to my sister stat!

  • Bdogk9

Awesome artwork. Awesome little girl, with an amazing imagination. And one lucky Aunt Gini Gin Gin… it all!!!

  • Well, I am here b/c you, @ShellyKramer is MY IDOL, so I figured any idol of hers must be an idol of mine….heading over shortly!

  • ShellyKramer

Details, details. That makes it even better, Gin.

    Hilarious? I don't know what you're talking about. You, my dear, are the hilarious one. Thanks for being a good sport. {{*smooches*}}

  • ShellyKramer

Totally agree on the awesomesauce of this little one. She rocks. And, I kinda like her Ant Geny, too.

  • Obviously Aunt Gini rocks.
I decided after reading this to check with a couple of your younger relatives. I showed them the Aunt Gini picture (which they definitely agreed was cool) and they said YOUR mouth was always open or flapping or yapping or jawing, well the list went on. They started giggling and said I should post this on Aunt Gini's page so she could make up things that you say. Just know that's what we're doing next.

  • ShellyKramer

Haha! Oh honey, you are so misguided. But thank you. You are more amazing than you know, my friend.

  • ShellyKramer

    Troublemaker. xo

  • Awesome… I can't can't just pick one that she is doing with her mouth open… I say ALL THREE 🙂

  • ShellyKramer

Shelly (what a great name), clearly, you know her. I couldn't choose

  • mmangen

    Ditto on what Erin said!

  • Do you think I could resist leaving my 2 cents here? No way! I think you got it all right about Gini Gin Gin, Ms. Shelly. Those three possible captions are perfecto.

Now Ant Geny, can't you see that your little niece is campaigning for a trip to see you? She has started with pure flattery and outlined what she hopes to accomplish… all tricks I'm sure she picked up from you. And the little PR genius has managed to get a blog post about her (oh, and you) on her first try. By the great Shelly Kramer, no less!

Well done, mini-Gini! Do we need to start a Facebook page called “Mini-Gini Needs to Go to CHI-town”?

  • I guess it depends on the time of day – early morning = cycling; pre-noon = social media; ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT = Pete. So I guess the Shellys are correct – it's all three. Sigh… But I have Cherry on my side and a stick figure with a mouth open to represent SK. As for you Kat? She's too little to come by herself. But she'll get here for a visit when she turns 12!

  • ShellyKramer

Me too, too, too, Shels :)) That Ginny Gin Gin is a handful. But then, so are you!!

  • ShellyKramer

You both need your heads examined. STAT.

  • ShellyKramer

Gini, I've told you before, pay no nevermind to Cherry. She's a teensy bit off her rocker, you know. Well, maybe that's an understatement.

And yes, the Shellys are correct. You say all of that SCHIZ all the time! Deal with it.

  • ShellyKramer

Kat, I love the “Mini-Gini Needs to Go to CHI-Town” idea! That's awesome!!!
